The Ford Ka Edge is the middle level car in the new upgraded Ford Ka range. It offers a number of additional features, on top of the standard ones included with the basic Studio edition, for relatively little extra retail price. One of the first things you will notice when increasing your driving in the Edge is that it contains a somewhat eccentric safety feature – slippery seats that cause you to start sliding out of control in the driver’s seat, as soon you really start to push the engine. It is unlikely that this was intended, but – in addition to the not-particularly powerful engine that Ford Ka Edge carries – it helps to ensure that no one is likely to be racing in the car. The engine – a 1.2-litre petrol one – is probably one of the major reasons the car will have less appeal to the serious petrol head, as it is very difficult to generate any real power in the performance. The car is more likely to appeal to those seeking a car for purely practical purposes, as it delivers in a number of other areas. The ride and handling of the Ford Ka Edge is pretty good, with sharp steering response and firm traction. It is arguable that the suspension is a little on the soft side, but this does make the Ford Ka a comfortable ride, even on the worst road surfaces, something which is not always the case with small cars.

The braking system that the vehicle has is also very good, with good feel and response levels and the new version offers considerable safety upgrades compared to the classic. For a start there are more airbags – two at the front, with the choice of additional side and curtain ones, and ABS. However, the Ford Ka Edge still comes in slightly behind one of the small cars it was based on – the Fiat 500 – in the safety tests conducted by NCAP. Nonetheless, it should be noted that the Ka Edge still scored four stars out of a possible five.

4. In Afghanistan NTS recorded 39 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants and 731. 607 cars registered.

Countries with the most car accidents are in Africa or the Middle East, so the best thing will be to get cheap car insurance, don’t you think?
